Anyone in Central NC interested in ordering plastic drums from Sam's?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

I can't find the barrels anywhere except for a price of $45 to $50. Is anyone else interested in asking Sam's (in Raleigh or Cary) to make a bulk order? It's my understanding that Sam's sells for about $25. Leave a post or e-mail me directly.

Their cost is $20 and they sell'em for 22.50 or 22.95...according to my just found source in Lower Alabama. See what they tell you. I'm calling Benton AK tom for the answer..."what's the least amt they'll order and ship to the local Sam's....we're in Hurrican alley" for heaven's sake....

These guys make up their needs a yr in advance (accrd to the local asst mgr.) and they don't deviate nor cross ship to another far-away store (?)...

We just have to scream loud enough...I've emailed via their web site asking these same questions and got NOTHING!

I'd buy ten ....hell it's the same as 4 or 5 over the Internet....

Check the phone book maybe. For SoCal inland types D&M Drum in Riverside (909-682-7255) has UN rated (not old DOT) foodproduct/petroleum poly 55G for $12 each. Used but clean. The multiuse UN rating seems to be taking over.

Picked up a couple more Saturday and the guy said he figures he has sold 15,000 to y2k types in the last 8 months. Check around.

Puddintame, I'd be interested in a couple. If Sam's won't get them, have you tried your local bottling plant for used syrup containers? (5- and 55-gall sizes.) We were able to get 6 of the 5 and 1 of the 55. Be easier to get them from Sam's, though--no cleaning through a tiny hole in the top!

Carlos -

Many, many thanks. Riverside is only a couple of hours north on I-15 for me. I'll give D&M a ring and make the arrangements. Bless you!

Mac,

E me for directions. It's tucked behind The Blacksmith Shop on N. Main but kinda tough to find even if you're there! Have Navy wife daughter in SanDiego w/ three grandkids.
