Y2k on CNN Ready or Not?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Thursday morning I caught a little blurp on CNN about Y2k. Can't tell you exact words other then some are ready and some are not. What caught my eye was the way the visual was formatted.

Y2k Ready or Not?

The announcer then read several organizations that would not be ready such as small business, local governemnts, and a couple of others. These were then listed under the above heading.

Here is what caught my eye. Under the same heading-Y2k Ready or Not?-the announcer went on to say which organizations would be ready such as federal government, banking, and several others. Again they were listed under above heading.

I kind of got the feeling from the way it was formatted that CNN was not going to say they were really ready and included the topic over both. Why not just put the heading-Y2k Not Ready- vs. Y2k Ready.

Just my opinion on this slow Thursday while freezing corn and canning tomatoes? Still getting ready and expecting a 5.

Linda,

The media is *very* good at giving the public exactly what they want! This is how they stay on top with the ratings. The fact that they are doing *anything* with a negative tone is probably the best you can expect. It is crystal clear that the public doesn't want bad news about Y2k and what it could do to their plans. Ditto for business.
