download assessory for Olympus 340L

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

When I bought my Olympus Digital (D-340L) camera last fall, I was told that it was possible to buy an assessory that would allow me to download pictures from my camera on to one or more floppy discs, so that more pictures could be taken (for example on a vacation where my computer was not avaliable). This would allow me to use the higher resolution without being restricted to 16 pictures. I've bought several products which I thought would accomplish this purpose but proved to be adaptor to put the smart card in to download pictures to the computer without using the cable. Does anyone know of such a product and where it can be purchased?

Thank you for your help, Valerie Detling

you can try iomega clik, those are 40mb each. A floppy disk only holds 1.4MB. Sony cameras have floppy output capability, they accomplish this by having worst image quality in the industry, using low resolutions and compressing the hell out of them. Additional smartmedia cards in place of boxes of floppies might not look so bad with falling smartmedia prices. Gets you more pics than a box of disks for less hassle. You'll wince when you see how few decent size pics you can fit on a floppy. Having an old portable computer around is a really good solution, nothing is easier and faster than dumping pics to a portable computer via PCMCIA adaptor. Many many megabytes of storage. I'd rather put money towards a portable comp than clik disks. Some have different situations and priorities though.
