Photosmart S20 and NT 4.0

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi, I am interested in buying the HP Photosmart S20 film scanner. I am interested to scan almost exclusively negatives I've archived over the years. I want to be able to build a slide show CD so I can send it to my friends instead of sending pictures.

I am worried about USB and NT 4.0. From what I've gathered, it seems HP has a driver that would allow motherboard USB controller to work under NT 4.0. I have a not so new motherboard that have USB, I have not verified whether USB works or not, since I don't have any device. But Windows 98 seem to recognize the USB controller.

I've also heard the NT driver for S20 is not that roboust. Should I wait til NT 5.0 come out and all the software glitches are fixe? I'd like to hear if anyone's using this device under NT, cause I'd rather not install 2 operating system on my machine.

Thanks a lot.
