Nail salons: satisfying a market niche or evidence of our impending doom? You be the judge.

I think nail salons are wonderful. I go to one every two weeks to have my nails done by a bunch of people who barely even speak the same language as me -- I think they're Vietnamese. The do a GREAT job! It makes me feel beautiful and it makes me feel like a natural woman! I don't think there's any doom involved here.

Ok I'm done now.

I have no opinion about them one way or the other, though I'd never go to one. It does puzzle me how there were none and suddenly there are several on every street.

Hey Emily,

Yeah, my friend Anji has been trying to convince me to go to a nail salon for awhile--I've been falling back on the nail-salon-as-evil thing as an excuse but the real reason is that my cuticles are a mess.

And besides, I'm one of those people who hates to pay more than 12 bucks for a haircut--my hair is straight without any layers. How hard can that be to cut? I used to get my brother Colin to do it when I was in high school.
