Are seagulls edible?

Are seagulls edible ? (If zoobie can ask about eating errr.. unusual animals, so can I).

I don't like the idea of eating animals that eat garbage, but if I was really desperate... Its just that there's so many of them, and they just stand there in the open...

anything that flys, walks, or crawls is edible. may not taste good, but protein is good to have! lol! seagulls! bait them with french fries with embedded hooks on strings! fun to watch! actually, it depends on what they have been eating, eddy

An old friend of mine grew up in Louisiana. He said something once about eating seagulls. I said, "Nobody eats seagulls!"

He said, "You do if you're hungry enough."

Seagulls are edible.

As was said, you can catch them by throwing a piece of bait (clam foot, mole crab, fish waste, whatever) attached to some mono, with a hook in it. They will grab the bait out of the air and swallow it.

DO NOT practise this now. It is quite illegal. There are many edible animals along the coasts that the "locals" will tell you cannot be eaten. Sometimes they are right (puffer fish and mussels can be deadly at some times of the year), often they are wrong.

I've had LOTS of fun and some darn good eating catching and cooking stuff that the locals said "weren't good for nothing".

You *don't* have to be all that close to the shore to have seagulls. There are flocks of them hanging around the big K-Mart parking lot by me, and I live 150 miles from the Atlantic Ocean!

I'm told that in China the answer to the question "what is eatable?" is "anything that walks with it's back to the sky".

As I ponder this, I can think of only on thing that does not walk with it's back to the sky - man.

I believe all birds are edible. Tim PS, Mudshark is edible too after lots of prep with vinegar. (Never tried either)...TJ

once the preps run out,a lot will be considered food that we now find disgusting.Roving feral dog packs? No that's roving supper.I'm trying to be as much of a doomer as possible to help set Zoobiette's survival positive mental attitude.
