Forum Note: Taking A Y2K-Time Out During The Next Couple Weeks/Month In August

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Need to take a time-out to do some relaxed breathing and some focused prepping, so Ive decided to take at the very least, the next couple weeks in August off, and quite possibly the whole month.

Since the forum has daily housekeeping issues that do come up (youd be surprised how many), Im assigning Temporary Sysop duties over to Chuck Reinzo, a long-time poster, and the Part-Time Sysop for the Prep Forum.

He also wishes to tighten up the delete hand a bit and discourage the trolling and way-off Y2K topic posts. I trust him to do a good job, and I trust our quiet Sysop #2, the Moderators TBY2K Team and the regular posters to back him all the way.

Since, I know myself pretty well, I will most likely lurk and occasionally post or research--especially if something is SO ABSOLUTELY COMPELLING that I cant stand not to--but frankly... my personal life is needs some radical attention.

So, now is the best time. Before the fall season begins.

;-D

If you have questions, problems or suggestions, use the TBY2K Forum e-mail which Chuck will check daily at: y2ktimebomb2000@yahoo.com or e-mail him directly at: rienzoo@en.com.

As the world turns... so does Y2K.

See ya around. Remember... Shift Happens.

Good time to say THANKS for all you do. I really appreciate your moderating and your posts. It DOES seem like a good time for a break. I have been thinking the unthinkable... unplugging from the internet for a while. Gawd.. my fingers start to twitch just thinking about it. But for me it might be the only way. ["Hi, my name is Linda and I'm an addict."]

So much left to do. So little summer left to do family stuff. Shouldn't be spending this time on the web.. I mean what more bad news do I NEED to hear?

Enjoy and make good use of your time off. We will miss you.

Diane,

Have fun during your well deserved break! Hope you get a lot accomplished. Good thinking, as far as doing this during August. After Labor Day, I expect that the sparks will start to really fly.

Stay cool!

Thanks for everything.

Its interesting how many people need to take time off --- myself included.

Look forward to all your insights (shouldn't have to say this --- but --- I mean it) after your "vacation".

Don't worry about us Dianne, we'll keep fighting each other as usual.

Have a nice time, and prepare, Prepare, PREPARE!

One more thank you for your efforts moderating the forum. Despite the trolls and off topic/salty posts it still is a very helpful support for me as I continue to prepare. The new forum on preparation is also a daily stop for me. Have a well deserved rest, Diane, restore your energy, continue your preps and we'll see you when you return!!

Come back rested and ready, and help us through that final lap!

I think it might be a good idea to remember tha sabbaticals DO END, and Diane is NOT going away Permanently, or if she IS I certainly don't know about it.

If she THINKS she IS, I'll go drag her back.....

Y'all sound like this is a wake, er somethin".

If it's a wake, where's the single malt?

Have a good rest, Diane. May it refresh and re-energize you. We're about to hit the far turn of this Y2K race and we'll all need strength to finish strong.

I took time off and it definitely rejuvenated me.

And many editers just love to take your breath away, because they refuse to accept we are sharing the air.

Enjoy some self time, Diane. This really does tend to take a toll on the personal life. Time is running short for last minute preps that honestly have no end! We'll be sure to let you know if the job goes to Chuck's head! It will be an extremely detailed, impressive, well written, essay quality, thoughtful, mannerly version of 'tattletale', like so many others we've read in the past month..........LOL!

Chuck:

I sortof agree, but it reminds me more of all the little quips folks put in your highschool yearbook the last days of school. She's not DEAD, folks. She's not even going away to college. She's simply cutting back on participancy for a while....not STOPPING...just cutting back.

-- Anita (spoonera@msn.com), August 03, 1999.

Not stopping? Not dead? Damn.

-- i feel (ifeelpretty@stalknet.com), August 03, 1999.

Thanks all for the kind thoughts!

Yes, just "relaxing" and focusing on "what's important."

I'm quite sure it takes a bit of time to get out of Y2K-mode. OK time to shut OFF the 'puter--7:00 a.m. (Internet rationing myself... time for a latte and a walk... what a concept! Later).

BTW, Now Chuck gets to "see" what it's like! (He's gonna need that drink Mac... in fact... the whole bottle).

;-D
