Hillary Clinton talks about standing by Bill

Report: She blames his infidelity on childhood trauma

REUTERS LONDON, July 31 Hillary Clinton, U.S. first lady and likely candidate for the U.S. Senate, has talked for the first time about why she stood by her man and blamed the presidents infidelity on childhood abuse, said the Sunday Times.

PRESIDENT BILL CLINTONS wife said his two-timing weakness stemmed from a trauma caused by childhood abuse, the report said.

Quoting extracts from an interview due to be published this week in Talk, a new magazine edited by ex-New Yorker editor Tina Brown, the report quoted the first lady blaming the presidents childhood experiences for a chain reaction of philandering.

HARD DOG TO KEEP ON THE PORCH

Referring to her husband as a hard dog to keep on the porch, she said dealing with bimbo eruptions had long been part of their marriage.

For many years she believed his weakness was under control until the scandal of his sexual relations with White House intern Monica Lewinsky erupted and at one stage threatened the presidency.

Clinton said in the report that the affair with Lewinsky took place after the death of the presidents father and their friend Vincent Foster.

He couldnt protect me, so he lied...this was a sin of weakness.

Yes, he has weaknesses. Yes, he needs to be more disciplined, but it is remarkable given his background that he turned out to be the kind of person he is, capable of such leadership, she was quoted saying in the Sunday Times.

He was so young, barely four, when he was scarred by abuse. There was terrible conflict between his mother and grandmother. A psychologist told me that being in the middle of a conflict between two women is the worst possible situations, Clinton said.

FAITHFULNESS VIGIL

She went on to describe her vigil for many years to monitor her husbands faithfulness.

I thought he had conquered it. I thought he understood it, but he didnt go deep enough or work hard enough, she said.

Asked whether their marriage could survive the strains of her embarking on a solo political career in the Senate, she said:

Hes responsible for his behavior whether Im there or 100 miles away...it is their (the persons) responsibility whether its gambling, drinking or women. Nobody can do it for you.

Clinton is currently on a campaign-style tour in New York. If she decides to run for the Senate seat being vacated next year she will be the first presidents wife ever to seek office.

So here's the admission of bimbo weakness. Divorce after he's out of office or stick with him to become Queen because of Y2K?

Sorry, but sometimes you love someone despite his or her failings. IN fact, everyone has failings and yet we do love people and forgive them their weaknesses. It's simply so.

His "abuse" was his mother and grandmother fighting? OH PUUUULLLLEEEEZZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like she's still enabling him, excuses excuses, well technically he didn't have (classic) sex with the intern, there must be something in the relationship for Hillary to stick with it, talk about humiliation, but it's been tame compared to other power mongering males. She's shopping in New York for a stronger shorter leash LOL. But they still talk about Y2K every morning at the breakfast table, who believes that?

She's more dangerous than he is.

IMHO, once you wake up to a problem...by whatever means...YOU are then responsible for correcting it. After a point, excuses wear real thin. Sounds like an enabling excuse to me. No matter how much you stand by somebody, there is a limit, and to just shrug this off indicates a serious weakness on her part, or total committment to another agenda which she and her husband share, that agenda overriding all else in their lives.

Maybe that's what's meant by a "contractual" marriage? Seems lame to me too. He told Monica that he was with 100s of other women. Isn't that a health hazard? That's more than a hill of beans.

"being in the middle of a conflict between two women is the worst possible situation ???????? No wonder they can't GI about Y2K. They're stuck in psychobabble rationalizations of piddly problems compared to Mad Max.

Mr. Mike said it right. Maybe it was just a silly diversion to hide their real agenda, the serious business. Maybe it will all come clear in about 6 short months.

Is Clinton the most obsessed-over President in US history? Don't recall any other President provoking so much talk. He is an attention addict. Probably loves his bad boy image. He might be overjoyed to not have to give up power because the election apparatus has gone FUBAR.

cut the dog some slack, Monica hurt when her SUV overturned on California freeway, let him send flowers, Hillary says he was never physically abused

-- hillbilly (watching@from.ark), August 01, 1999.

Mr. Mike has it right, IMHO. Hill will stay with Bill because the NWO powers that be have told her to. Besides, I've heard that she's sucked a few different dicks over the years too. What's good for the fuckin' goose is good for the... What a marriage, if you can call it that, built on infidelity. I wonder if Chelsey is even bill's kid?

Hillary of Arc

Whos giving this woman advice: the Three Wise Men or the Three Stooges?

By Jay Severin

MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR NEW YORK, Aug. 2 Just when Monicas 15 minutes of fame evaporated, who should grant her and that squalid scandal an extension but Hillary Clinton? The first lady poured her heart out on personal matters to Tina Browns new Talk magazine and, voila! the Clinton marriage is back on page one.

THIS RAISES AN interesting question: Who is advising Mrs. Clintons on her senatorial campaign: the Three Wise Men or the Three Stooges? Was her decision to reawaken the most infamous sex scandal in American political history really clever or really crazed?

THE STOOGE SCENARIO

One school of thought holds that Hillary Clinton sought this confessional in order to put her own spin on it, and to lay it to rest as in, I have already answered that question. I have said all I am going to say.

This is the Stooge scenario. Because if Mrs. Clinton actually believes this will end further curiosity and eliminate questions about her personal life, then New York voters have to worry if, as Senator, there is a bridge in Brooklyn somebody will try to sell her.

If Mrs. Clinton genuinely wanted this sordid story to die, to address it in this way was to use a technical political term the dopiest thing she could have ever done. If this typifies HRCs political instincts, she is doomed not only to lose this Senate campaign, but also to become extinct.

WISER GUYS

But what if Hillary rekindled this scandal story intentionally? Enter the Three Wise Men theory.

It is an ironic fact that Hillarys poll numbers were never higher than during the worst of her husbands scandal and impeachment epic. This is because she was a victim the wronged wife, the loving mother, the emotionally abused spouse. As a result, she enjoyed much greater standing as Mrs. Clinton than she does now as a candidate.

As a celebrity First Lady Spice Hillary looks like a winner. But as a politician, its an entirely different story. So what better idea than to revive the story line that delivered her highest public ratings? It may sound crazy, but it makes good political sense.

Hillary Clinton cannot be hurt by Bill Clintons past behavior. But she can be helped greatly by endless discussion of it. Her marriage may be an uncomfortable topic, but its better than her health care plan. And have you noticed? Nobody is talking about carpetbagging this week.

HILLARY OF ARC

That is why professional politicians recognize this ploy as Hillarys Joan of Arc strategy. Mrs. Clinton may be looking back with fond nostalgia on the days when the headlines focused on the presidents shame which, in turn, meant a focus on her virtue: her extraordinary devotion to husband and family.

Clearly, shes trying hard to recreate and sustain that image, particularly among women voters. The idea is to present herself not merely as a candidate, but as a cause. They may not care for her politics, but they like her as a woman. Play the gender card, Hillary, and play it hard.

Granted, it is a weird strategy, but HRC is sinking. And when things go bad, a true politician will use any ploy to change the subject and gain sympathy. So this isnt a right-wing conspiracy after all. Its men in general. No one could argue that this bit of Hillary Clinton paranoia is believable, to say the least, to women of both parties.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUNDAY, AUGUST 08, 1999 20:02:47 ET XXXXX

CLINTON WOMEN TO GATHER IN ONE HOTEL ROOM; MAY FILE CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT

**World Exclusive**

More than a dozen women associated with various Clinton scandals are set to gather in one hotel room, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The meeting, which has been planned in secret, is scheduled to take place in Dallas later this month.

According to legal sources, the women will travel from all across the country to share "war stories" and to discuss the possibility of filing a class action lawsuit against President Bill Clinton!

"It has taken quite some time to track all of them down," one well-placed source told the DRUDGE REPORT. "And to get them all to agree to meet in one room has taken months. But we're there."

News of the gathering is bound to cause nightmares at the White House.

"It is going to be the class reunion from hell," said one source.

The Dallas gathering will mark the first time that many of the women have met or have spoken to each other directly. And several of the women traveling to Dallas are not well-known to scandal watchers.

"One has remained a Jane Doe," a legal source told the DRUDGE REPORT, referring to women who surfaced during the Paula Jones case.

"But she, like all of the others, has been harassed by Mr. Clinton and his 'fix-it' team... [she] is now ready to fight back... there will be power in numbers."

Investigators have not been able to locate former Miss America Elizabeth Ward Gracen. And White House-scarred Kathleen Willey, who is preparing for her fall wedding, is leaning against making the trek, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

"[Willey] does not want to get involved in the lawsuit," one legal source explained. "She supports all of the other women and would love to meet them face-to-face, but she has decided the personal toll of opening it all up in a lawsuit... would just be too great."

"I am going to get married and try to put all of this behind me," Willey told the ASSOCIATED PRESS last month. "It's all over."

"I am not really sure what to expect from the meeting," said one Clinton scandal star who is planning to travel to Dallas.

"But I am going to bring my camera, this is really going to be something else... all of us in one room!"

Event planners are concerned that any advance publicity could spook several of the women and disrupt the gathering.
