Canon BJC6000 or 5100?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi All. A lot of us seem to have experience with Epson printers. I see quite a few posts concerning the newer models like the 750 & 1200, but does anyone have any experience or comments concerning the new Canon BJC 6000 (1440x720 dpi letter/legal size) or the BJC5000 or 5100 (1440x720 11x17 size) models? The price for either Canon model seems to be lower than the smaller format Epson model(750) and The BJC6000 has individually replaceble ink tanks for each color!

I received a print sample from Canon printed onbbbb a BJC6000 and thought it looked pretty impressive despite it being a photo printed on a coated paper rather than a photo weight paper. My opinion means little to me in this matter so far, since I haven't collected representative samples from the Epsons. Any feedback from anyone familiar with either the Canon models or both the Canon & Epson models in question would be appreciated. For reference, I have an Epson Stylus Color (720DPI) and a BJC-4550(360 dpi).

Thanks.

have a bjc 6000. Have had nothing but trouble with the print heads plugging up. Probably because they aren't used for long periods of time like maybe a month or so. Still I find it very aggravating when I do want to use it. Also had a Canon camcorder which gave me nothing but trouble and Canon don't care. Would not recommend anyone buy a Canon product. Try Epson!
