Help! I need WATER links!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I need links on specific/factual Y2K water issues....like the chemical treatment supply chain? Where do the chemicals come from? Also, let me know if you see anything on whether or not water companies met the EPA's 7/31 testing deadline (tomorrow).

I need numbers...how many plants? Anything! I am discussing Y2K on TV Monday night. They want to bring up the water issue due to the draught we're having in our area (Philly).

Thanks... Beans

I think the recent GAO report on the cities and states (the one that had Boston and Dallas "ready") mentioned that many cities were *behind* in their water and sewage treatment remediation. But I don't have the link in front of me.. or the report. Sorry.

Hi Beans,

I hope these folks gave you enough, 'cause I can't think of anything else, except look in our archives (at the bottom of the main page) under UTILITES. A few water items, but not much...

But I do have a question. When, and where will you be on? I'm just outside of Princeton, NJ, and we get all the Philly stuff here. <:)=

I'll be on Philly After Midnight (ABC 12:30 a.m.)this Monday night. My name is Ingrid Harding and I will be appearing with Shahrazad Ali. We are both authors. She has written a book called Y2K in the Hood. I am on as her suburban counterpart. Sharazad is great, very entertaining. We have been on together before. I just try to keep up with her! My book is "Got Beans? Get Ready for the Year 2000 Computer Crisis."

If you have a VCR, tape it, don't wait up. They are famous for canceling/changing shows around.
