Home Garden Pest Control

greenspun.com : LUSENET : David's Organic Forum : One Thread

I am a novice organic home gardener. How do I keep pests eg slugs, catapeilers, from eating my young spinach? I live in Sydey. Please advise. Thank you.

Keeping slugs & others pest at bay.

Velma, try making up a spray solution of crushed garlic and mildly soapy water. Spray this onto your spinach and also on the ground around the plant. You may have to experiment with the amount of crushed garlic to soapy water to use. Also have a look at the Grass Roots magazine Index and also Earth Garden magazine Index--they may have published an article on this matter. Regards.
