When do you (GI's) plan to 'drop out?'

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Actually two questions:
1. Do you plan to move from where you now live in the near future? 2. If so, when?

Regards,
Andy Ray

Staying put untill things get really bad, then will move 8 miles down the road to parents farm to take care of them. It will be a pain to move cow, chickens, pigs, and lots of hay and feed, but most of my long term supplies are down there anyway.

Buddhism is not a teaching to change others; it is a teaching to change ourselves. This change occurs when we are "filled with" or awaken to the Dharma, and can deeply and positively transform the way we view our life and all life around us. Ultimately, as the life of the Buddha himself demonstrated, we find that the true gift of Buddhism is really compassion. Awakening to the Dharma - and the corresponding awakening of compassion - leads to the discovery of a wonderful and dynamic life full of energy and creativity.

I will not withdraw unless there is a compelling reason to. I may, however, have a difficult time getting to work if the lights go out and traffic clogs the roads. Then I would go to plan B, dialing in. If there is no dial tone. Unfortunately, I will be at work on actual roll over in the corporate command center, North America. I will have my BOB, and it will include hiking boots. Bear in mind, I can afford to do this because I work in a rural area away from the cities. If I worked in Chicago or LA or NYC I would definatly take vacation.

Andy,

If you're a troll, please depart these forums and quit annoying us.

IF ON THE OTHER HAND, as has been suggested you are a college-level researcher, why not just post your questionnaire or a link to it and let those interested in participating do so. I'm sure it will save a lot of grief on both sides.

Thanks anyway Wild Weasel, but I'm outside the categories you pose: I'm just an asshole.

-- Andy Ray (andyman633@hotmail.com), July 29, 1999.

Though this was not from me, I must admit it is accurate from some perspectives! Again, the flattery of immitation is nearly overwhelming.

Wild Weasel,

To properly answer your question: I fear the suppositions and assumptions regarding the nature and social impact of the 000101 rollover are as accurate as the suppositions and assumptions regarding me and my motives. And, the two share this, as well: facts and truth have no impact whatsoever on the GI perspective of each.

Humored Regards,
Andy Ray
