I need help finding decent photo software

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

The software that came with my Fuji MX700 is Adobe 2.0 . It appears to me that i can not save my pics in a jpeg format. Even though they come from the camera as jpeg. Maybe I just need help with the software that I have.....? I would like a bit more control over the editing process then what the adobe 2.0 allows. I have been using "photo styler" but it does not allow direct download of pics from the camera. (photo styler has been out of production for a few years). Has anyone used "Riptide"?

If anyone has some advice please let me know.

Thank you,

Carl

Carl:

Consider Paint Shop Pro from Jasc Software (http://www.jasc.com). It is an outstanding photo editor that will give you the control you need for not too much money. About $100 for the new version 6.0 they just released. It should allow you to directly import your images through a TWAIN driver (supplied with your camera?).

Also, consider Corel PhotoPAINT, a slightly more robust image processor that is more in the league of Adobe PhotoShop. Corel just released version 9.0, but you can probably find version 8.0 for less than $100 (I got mine for about $50). Again, the TWAIN interface should allow you to drop your images into the application.

In either case, make sure you pick up a good third party book to help you learn all the tricks of the trade as it were.

Good luck...

You CAN save your images as JPEG using Adobe PhotoDeluxe.

They hid this feature not in "File/Save As..." as you might expect, but in "File/Export..."
