My two cents:

You know a surprising number of people ask questions just like this one, matter of fact, there have been several in the last few weeks. If your camera is a legitimate purchase please pardon my l'il diatribe, but there seem to be a quite a few people who "receive" or "inherit" or somehow end up purchasing digital cameras that aren't accompanied by manuals or software. I sometimes wonder why they buy them? Would you buy a car without wheels or a gas tank that you only hope you could find somewhere? If I were a suspicious person, I'd wonder how many of these cameras had "fallen off trucks" or had been "liberated from oppression at the hands of the scions of an industrialized capitalistic society"? :-)

Anyhow, my recommendation to anyone who wouldn't mind revealing the serial number of their new toy to the manufacturer would be to simply contact them via email or a company website. In this case, www.casio.com should work quite well. For anyone who isn't familiar with the process, you can usually find these company web sites quite easily by typing the company name into a search engine and checking the results.

I hope I'm wrong, and paranoidly thinking the worst in these cases, but I also hope none of us are helping anyone with stolen property. I'll also go on the record right now apologizing to anyone with a legitimate request for help with these types of situations, but I still think this type of thing is best left to manufacturers who can check serial numbers. Once again, this is just my two cents.
