Can you use photo printers w/computergreenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
I was wondering, I'm buying a new computer in a week and was going to buy a printer with it. I'm also looking into buying a digital camera. So my question is: can I just have one printer to take care of both printing documents AND print photo quality images?

Certainly. Printers that are optimized for photos will likely be slower at doing text than one designed for just doing text, but it will work fine.

I have an Epson Photo 750. I just timed it with a text print out it was 2PPM. The Epson web site says the 740 will do 6 PPM, so yes the 750 is a little slower but still does a nice job. The photo output makes it worth the wait!!
