If you suscribe to a newspaper that refuses to publish reliable and accurate Y2k newscoverage, you can send them a message. Either do not renew your subscription or renew it through 12-31-99 and tell them that

they have ignored the problems with Y2k, have misled the people and since they will be unable to publish after 1 1 2000, there is no point in giving them money for papers that will not be delivered.

I wrote a letter to the editor and hand carried a stack of internet posts to a meeting with a reporter on 12-31-97 and these efforts were ignored with nothing published. It serves them right. They could have raised the issue, contacted the local city owned utility and the Public Service Commission and published the lack of readiness at that time. I still have not seen the phrase "embedded systems" ever published in this so called newspaper which is part of the Knight Ridder chain. This paper also has the irritating habit of including 15-20 small slick colored advertising "supplements" that have the amazing ability to scatter all over when the paper is picked up. I can guarantee that ever time this happens (3 times a week) I will not buy anything from the advertisers that do this to me. Wake up advertisers. The reduction of revenues would be excellent payback for their lack of honesty.

On second thought I will renew the Sunday papers only to get the TV guide. There is nothing weekdays anyhow except coverage of where local officials have voted again and reversed themselves again on a local issue. Every once in a while, they vote on something new and do not change it later. This rarely if ever happens on anything controversial. Is anyone else seeing this?
