I read somewhere that thee is an upcoming Senate hearing on the status of readiness of the utility industry - and that it had been postponed. Anyone know?? Why was it postponed? New date available? TIA

jeanne, the Senate Special Committee on the Year 2000 web site still has a hearing listed for:

August 4 -- Utilities' Y2K Preparedness 9:30 AM, Room 192 Dirksen

It does also say that "All hearings are subject to change at any time."

If it has been changed, a new date should appear on the web site before too long. The upcoming meetings page is at:

http://www.senate.gov/~y2k/upcoming/

That meeting might have to be re-scheduled. So it can be re-checked for accuracy. :-)

Pressure Release: Date: whenever we need it.

The illusory meeting which these threats to order have claimed once existed have hereby never existed, via executive order. They never had to be removed from our web site for accuracy, as they were never accurate, uh, we mean, real, in the first place.
