I've just started researching the purchase of a digital camera (for novice use). I read about a "new" technology for image capture, CMOS, that is supposed to show up in digital cameras. Is this something that is worth waiting for? When are manufacturers supposed to be bringing these CMOS cameras to market? Thanks for the advise.

CMOS will have most impact on the low end of the digicam world. At upper levels (2MP and above, or sensors with higher ISO sensitivity), there's no cost advantage to it. If you're looking at 2 MP right now, I wouldn't wait for CMOS...
