I use either scanned photographs or video camera still images in the jpeg format and then render them to an avi file for encoding into the videoCD format.

A video editing program such as premiere 5.1 will allow you to put images on the timeline and then render to a avi file or to a mpeg-1 file if the appropriate plugin is available.

In my view, a slide show from a videCD is of a higher quality than motion video from a videoCD.
