Rosette Spoonbill

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Taken at Estero Lagoon, Florida using a Nikon N50/ Tokina 400mm/ Sigma 1.4x teleconverter/ Kodak Gold 100 speed print film. Spot metered + 1/2.

Waded up to a flock of these guys at dusk. Got within 15 feet. I think this one is immature.

By the way, I've posted several photos at: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=18198

Hummmm, nice photo ... I think it4s a little dark ... the background is dark ... but nothing bad at all ... good shot.

I think this is a wonderful photo. I love the reflection, and I like that there's more space above the real bird than below the reflection. The background doesn't bother me at all. The bird could be lighter, but it just looks to me like hazy, not-so-bright light.

Stu, your roseate spoonbill is great - the Florida breed must be much more tame than those along the Texas coast - I cannot get anywhere near as close! But having got so close, I wonder if you have cropped it just a tad too much, particularly to left and right?

Great colors and composition. Scan seems a bit dark or flat.
