downloading the pictures from my Canon A5zoom via serial port needs too much time (i think the file isn4t compressed send to the twain utility). knows anybody a software to load the original JPG-files from the camera. (like i can do with a CF-card reader?) thanx Werner Voge

Sorry, no good news for you here: The TWAIN utility does transfer the file as JPEG, then expands it once in the PC. Thus, no faster transfer via serial. Card readers are much faster, not because of the JPEG issue, but just because the parallel-port or USB interfaces are so much faster than serial.
