weakness/difficulty walking in 4-mo old kitten

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

Have 4-mo old female Maine coon kitten who was very active when we got her. Gradually she has stopped running, jumping, climbing. She is weak/wobbly especially on rear legs. Do not believe this is an injury as symptoms came on gradually. She walks/tries to trot, then sits or lies down. Does not seem to be in pain, but sometimes spine seems tender to the touch. Poisoning/toxins are out of the question. Is bright, alert & healthy otherwise. Appetite and coat are good. Our vet is stumped, has recommended orthopedic surgeon. Other opinions include neurological disease. Are coons listed as suffering from lysosomal storage disease?

Recently bought a Maine with similar problem from Kanakooncats in Wichita KS Turned out to be medial patellar luxation , Surgery will cost at least 2000.00 and may even need to be redone at some point. Breeder not answering phone! Very frustrated! iceabeth@home.com
