Finishing a Job

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Squishy : One Thread

When you finish a project or a task or something big in your life, do you like to take time to relax or do you need to just plunge right into something new? I know that I wouldn't really be able to relax today if I didn't know that I was about to start working on another show in two weeks.

If I don't have a pretty full calendar, I have a hard time taking breaks.

Do you feel the same way?

I always feel the need to relax, and I always promise myself a little vacation. What always happens, though, is that I carry the relaxation too far, and never get back into a working mode. I turn into flake girl and my life falls apart until the next big project comes along.

The flakey period has been known to last over a year at a time. This applies to everything: my job, hobbies, even cleaning the house.

Once I get going, I don't stop. (Oooh, that sounds bad.)

I like to keep going when I'm working, so I can get everything done and out of the way. Because the longer you work, the sweeter the reward at the end. I don't know if anyone agrees with that, but oh well.

At jobs, I tend to not take all of my breaks or take advantage of all the time slotted. In fact, one of my old bosses actually had to tell me to take more breaks. Everyone in the office thought I was working too hard. I about fell off my chair.

I always say I'm going to take a break, but then something else always seems to pop up (courtesy of Monks). Of course, even when I'm busy, I'm like Pamie on a slow day.
