Is there any difference in picture quality between the old 50mm af lens with the DOF scale and the current ones on the market now? Thank you.

Just adding a question. I bought a Nikon 50mm AF lens this month in Arlington Camera, TX. There is another version with the D specification costing 2.5X more. I understand the D stands for Distance. Lets say I use the bilt-in flash in my Pronea 6i (Nikon SLR version of APS), what would be the difference? The guy at the camera store said there would be no difference. Answers would be appreciated.

If your Pronea has 3D matrix metering and 3D flash metering (check your specifications at the back of the manual), then you will get slightly more reliable and consistent flash exposures with difficult subjects (e.g. off-centre, very dark backgrounds, bride / groom, etc.) If it doesn't have 3D metering, the D function won't help you at all.

Note that the D lens is f/1.4, versus f/1.8. This is a 2/3 stop difference and accounts for most of the price differential.
