Ho, does anyone know of a software that will read a dvd from the dvd drive and convert the mpeg2 video into mpeg1 that i can store into my hard drive or copy to a cdrom as vcd or just an mpeg file?

None exists right now but why do it the hard way. Just hook up the DVD to a encoder and capture the video and burn it.

Lone Ranger is correct but now you have to contend with Macrovision copy-protect.

hello there,

i think this answer isn't up-to-date...

use DVDx to "ripp" the dvd's it's a standallone-programm, and the usage is easy and the results are well... you allso can ripp in mpeg2 (SVCD)...
