Might this limit our prep time?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

I received this by email -- either last night or this morning. It relates to preparation in this manner: it might be the trigger to start public stockpiling and limit our ability to complete our preps. Stay tuned.

Y2KNEWSWIRE has just learned -- and confirmed -- that the video feeds for the Y2K documentary will be downloaded via satellite to CBS affiliates on Thursday (July 15th).

Surprisingly, the network has decided to air the first TWO parts of the documentary back to back (parts 1 and 2). They will start airing as early as tomorrow night. Check your local CBS schedule. Most air times will be between 7pm and 9 p.m.

Remember, this is airing in 48 major markets, reaching millions of people. It MAY be a significant trigger event that raises awareness among the general public.

I work in a group of about 30 people. And very few of them watch TV, so I doubt if this will make a difference. And Nick at Nite seems to be the station of choice to most adults I know.

I live in a top 30 market... there is nothing on my CBS affiliate's schedule that's out of the ordinary during the next week.

Same in my market, yerfdog. The only possibilty I can see is (aside from a pre-emption) is 60 Minutes II on Tuesday nite. No topic published yet.

Keep you eyes peeled...

In case some readers don't frequent the Classic Forum (Timebomb 2000), it turns out that the whole "CBS video" item looks suspiciously like a video marketing effort by some folks at Y2KNEWSWIRE. Here's a link to the thread. A shame, that. Getting folks all riled up in order to flog a $29.95 video. *sigh*

I do have to say that I'm constantly amazed at the breadth of participation in these Forums. Just on that one thread, we got source comments from some people who have experience of and excellent contacts within the networks and news media. Reports are reviewed, investigated, sourced, analyzed, and verified at lightning speed. Remarkable...
