it's Jan 2 and nothing works...now what?

I should be at my cabin in the Ozarks. I don't expect they'll be much luck hearing what's going on in the outside world. My supplies will be adequate to last till spring crops are ready. I will be leading a group of 8 to no more than 13. Have you all given any thought as to what to prepare for next? Personally, I think most important thing on the agenda (until spring planting) will be recon. Trying to find out how the neighbors are doing without giving away your postition. Keeping an eye on the local highways and roads. Keeping someone on the sw radio constantly. Challenging anyone that's obviously not supposed to be there????? I will also be fortifying. Have the group gather rocks to replace the inside paneling. Got mortar mix? Any thoughts all?

If your looking for attention and trouble, that should do it! Sure you wouldn't rather just write a good story ?

Not looking for trouble....just want to see it when/if it comes!!!

Given the premise of this thread ("nothing works"), Steve is correct. And NOT being too visible will help keep trouble FROM happening.

One thing you might start to consider is interpersonal relations. No matter how cohesive a group is to start with, after a few weeks or months where "nothing works" it's likely to be difficult for everyone.

Only advice is to remember that "idle hands are the Devils workshop."

Shouold REALLY consider geting to know the neighbors. They may be able to help a LOT more than you expect now, PARTICULARLY in the Ozarks. You don't want to be a stranger in the area if it isn't working......
