This is a series called "Fear in the Fields". Apparently this has been going on for years....... yes, I trust our government to watch out for me. Disgusting. Please use organic gardening methods.

This is really a fascinating story... but an OLD one: Date: July 3 through Sept. 17, 1997... and has nothing to do with Y2K.

Kristi,

The local radio has had some wild commentary alluding to the fact that the organic crops actually use more water, take longer to mature, contribute to salt water intrusion, and expose people to e. coli.

The LA times ran a very good piece about water wars in CA earlier this year {I know it's around here somewhere}.

There are some very curious goings on with some farms, corporations, politicos, & workers unions.

Linda,

I think most folks who have the opportunity to are interested in growing some of their own food next year. I assume Kristi posted this as information for people to be aware of when planting their home gardens.

My comments maybe are more appropriate for the other forum, but this topic will have an effect on us all - sooner or later.

Yes, I posted this information because this forum is about preps - not Y2k technical info - as I understand it. There seem to be alot of "new" gardeners (as part of their Y2k preps) who probably never heard this before - I know I hadn't and I have gardened for years. I also recognize the stories are old but they seemed sensible information for folks here. Sorry if it offended your idea of what this forum should be.

Ok Chuck,

I know my brain feels fried right now but I am trying to decipher your comment - does it mean that because it wasn't deleted then it is considered pertinent? or...... bene, bene the italians are "still here"? Sleepy, so sleepy - quick bath and nighty night time.....zzzzz... Thanks..
