Photo Printer

Is there any type of printer that will print photos and not fade? Also, what is the "life" of a printed photo on a printer such as a HP PhotoSmart?

Thanks!

Look at the ALPs MD5000. There is some banding on the big (8 X 10) pictures, but none on the smaller ones that I've seen. They do not fade and the quality will absolutely blow you away! I have a photosmart (because I do 8 X 10s). It purportedly doesn't fade as rapidly as the Epson. I've seen some tests that seem to verify this so I trust the HP claims. However, HP doesn't claim archival quality - but have done comparisons on 3 month intervals. I have several photos on my fridge - and they have shown no signs of fading (no going on 5 months). If I really need to know a photo won't fade then I spray it with UV protectant (available at your local photo store).
