No, there's no direct way to connect via USB but one fast download option would be to get a USB PCM/CIA card adapter and also the Olympus MA-2U PC Card Adapter (about $90-$100). The Smartmedia goes into the MA-2U and the MA-2U into the PCM/CIA card reader and you'll get extremely fast downloads to your computer. I use the PCM/CIA slot on my G3 Powerbook to capture all of my Oly 2000z shots almost instantaneously after a shoot and believe me -- there is no waiting!
