He (as a state rep, as a y2k-aware person, as an y2k-sponser of several GA laws and support services (insulin, transporation, state board rep, etc.) definitely exists. He is a good source, and is reliable. I disagree with some of his individual conclusions about rail traffic and about a few other specific issues, but he (in general) knows what he is talking about, and can be assumed to be talking to right levels of the "powers-that-be".

He is "in-charge" of GA's y2k efforts, and has the highest level of attention that I'm aware of in the state w/r y2k issues.

Do the more important question - did he send this particular email, or did someone else "fake" his name and email signature? Obviously, I can't say for sure, but it (and the reference emails about him) appear to be correct and are as accurate as I can tell.

The misspelling or cross-reference to Mr. K's name? Ignore it. If anything, they prove he wrote it himself - rather than try to concoct an elaborate fraud.

I am on a Y2K prep Elist with some longtime Y2Kers and it is a hot topic. There has been independent conformation with a member of the list. He has recieved a reply from the governor stating that it is real. To start with though the list was sceptical. At least one of the members of the Prep Elist is on the civic forum - Elist.

Very interesting.
