negative scanner comparisons

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Is there someplace that has a comparison of flatbed scanners with negative scanning available on them? Is an "all-in-one" the way to go or should I get a relatively lowcost flatbed and invest in an add-on slide/negative scanner?

Jennifer, I would definately recommend that you go the separate scanner route. I have two Kodak 3570 film scanners, an Agfa Arcus II flatbed which also scans up to 8 x 10 film, and a Plustek 9636T flatbed with 35mm negative and transparency adapter. The film scanners are FAR superior in their output. I have two Linocolor flatbeds on order and should be in pretty soon and will let you know how well they do with film, but I'm not optimistic.
