i'm intending to purchase a Mavica FD71 but it's not available locally. only the FD73 model is available. what are the differences between Mavica FD71 and the FD73 models? which is newer and which is a better buy? thanks a million.

I've got one of each and they seem almost exactly alike however the 71 has a metal focus ring.As far as difference between fd71, 73, 75 there is very little as far as I can tell. I think the 71 model is slightly better because it has auto focus and a manual focus option. It also has a steel focus ring for optional lens adaptor, the 73 & 75 is plastic. So I like the 71 better because of the manual focus--although both take great pictures. By the way you can get a good one on Ebay for around $150--Hope this helps,--Jim
