Could anyone tell me of any online free photo album pages where I can allow friends to view my family pics apart from photopoint.

Absolutely! - There are several, but we've aligned with Club Photo, as we think their Living Album software (also free) makes the sharing process SO easy. You can sign up for your free web space just by going to http://ir.clubphoto.com/

Ditto on Dave's answer. I downloaded the free software and then found uploading an album so simple that it was scary. The only problem was that I had to reset Windows to use small fonts before using the software. Other than that, and particularly if you don't have large fonts as your default, you'll be wowed by Living Album.
