compiling using notepad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Steve Heller's books : One Thread

I've installed the compiler in my computer successfully, even the sample programs run great. When I tried to run my programs using notepad, the response was bad command or file name. I followed everything in the book. Should I put the file at a specific directory or something? FYI, I'm using windows 98. Thank you.

Notepad

The problem with Notepad is that it adds a ".txt" extension on to the end of every file name that it saves, whether or not you want it to. You can either rename the file to end in ".cc", or use a different text editor.

I am having this same problem using Windows 95 note pad. I can run the programs supplied on the cd-rom, however I can't run the programs that I write. I get a newline error inspite of me coping the programs supplied. Then when I try to run the program I get the file is not reconized. Please help.
