Elan IIe

Hello guys and gals, I've just recently purchsed the Elan IIe, and I'm sad to say it, but I'm having a little trouble understanding the 'Eye Control Focusing' function. When the camera dial on the left of the camera is set to the P function, and the right hand dial is set to AI servo function, I can press the shutter button halfway down and move my eye from one focus point to the other, and the corresponding box lights up. When the camers is on one of the portrait thru sport functions the same thing does not apply. I have to release the shutter button and press it again to switch from focus point to focus point. Was this the way it was designed to work?

Hello Joseph- In the PIC modes (that is, all the settings below the "L" on the dial)focus point is selected by the camera; eye control and manual selection is overridden. In fact, the metering type, film advance, and focus modes are also selected by the camera. So you have an expensive P&S when you use those modes. Hope this helps. Don't forget to RTFB.
