wanting to purchase enlarger but not sure which to go with,I like the saunders 670, I don't think I'll ever need a 4x5 and have no intentions of printing color, any comments would be very welcome,thanks dan

I think I would get the simplest condenser rig they make and purchase an Aristo cold light for it.

I had no intentions of getting into color or 4x5 when I bought my first enlarger. Now I have a full color darkroom and wish I had an 8x10 enlarger! The great thing about photo equipment is that if you take care of it, you can always resell it and move into what you need next. I think the Saunders with a cold light head would be a great place to start.

While you may have no intention of printing color, I'll bet you'll want to print on VC paper, and a dichro head makes a great diffusion light source with continuously-variable contrast settings. Besides, if you want to sell it later, you practically can't give away a condenser enlarger these days.

There are plenty of enlargers with dichroic heads on the used market, and I think they are worth it for the ease of printing variable contrast.
