DO YOU KNOW IF GOD WILL FORGIVE IN ADVANCE IF YOU ASK HIM?

Brad,

At the risk of upsetting many holy-rollers I have a little prayer that comes once in a while based on love trust friendship and dependance on Christ-Our Father-Our Holy Mother. " Forgive me Father for I am about to sin."

As a growig child at 54 I know I am not perfect and struggle at many levels to learn to say the prayer less and less. =Peace=Jean B.

Brad,

A few thoughts for your consideration.

In one sense, Jesus already has forgiven our sins in advance. He paid the price once for all time on the cross. Many Christians, knowing that Jesus forgives when we confess our sin, presume that he will forgive and proceed headlong into sin. Yet confession also requires repentance. Repentance means to truly be sorry for the sin and to turn away from sin. Can you really be sorry for something you knew in advance was sinful and deliberately did anyway? John the Baptist warned those whom he baptized to go forth and bear the fruit of repentance (to stay out of sin). Jesus instructed those he healed to sin no more. Jesus said that if we love Him, we'll obey Him. And NT scriptures clearly mentions the need to live a holy life and to be separated from sin.

For those reasons and many more, I believe that anyone who knowingly participates in sin runs the risk of trampling on the blood of Jesus.
