CoolPix 950 - Macro modes

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

In the "Imaging Resource" review of the CoolPix 950, they test the macro capabilities in normal and digital-tele. The manual only describes how to get the camera in macro mode (yellow tulip w/ tele set at mid-point setting). How does the 950 get into a macro mode at the tele-digital setting as shown in review in images?

It sounds like you are most used to experiencing zoom in "auto" mode. In this mode the digital zoom is applied when the optical zoom is extended to it's limit, and held or 2 seconds. Then, the digital zoom kicks in. To use digital zoom WITH a yellow tulip, try the following...

When in M-REC mode, go to the menu and select DIGITALTELE. From here you will have the choice of selecting auto, x2.5, x2.0, x1.6, 1.25, or off. By selecting any of the 'x...' values, that particular level of digital zoom will be applied to any image you capture, regardless of which "focus-mode" you are in, be it 'mountain', 'tulip', or 'normal (blank)'
