IBM Microdrive storage

Once IBM released is Microdrive, I expected a flood of anouncements of new digital camera models that would support this drive. Instead, with the lone exception of the Canon, it has been ignored. What happened, and will we ever see Microdrive-capable cameras from top-tier manufacturers like Nikon, Olympus and Minolta?

I was pretty excited about these too. Supposedly, it is a little slower than compact flash, and consumes significantly more battery power.

Supposedly the new Nikon D-1 will support it. I'd think others will too, but the design cycle on digicams is something on the order of 18 months, so it'll take a while.
