Donny and Marie commented on the Y2K issue at the begining of their show today. They said it's not going to be that big of a deal. Donny asked what ONE thing you would stock-up on and his sister jokingly said "Chocolate"! For some reason I thought they would've seriously conveyed the importance of this issue to the viewers and the need for preparation. Afterall, isn't it a belief of the Mormon religion to prepare for what they think will be the end of the world? Why would this not fall into that catagory? I guess I don't understand what exactly they DO believe. Maybe some of you can enlighten me.

I can not say anything one way or the other on the personal opinions of either Donny or Marie. The Mormon church, while it has urged personal preps for its members for the last 60 or so years, has not taken any particular position on Y2K in particular. I have heard it said by some local church leaders that the main church in Salt Lake has simply continued to urge the same one year storage policy as this would cover many personal situations for people even if Y2K turns out to be a non-event. While this may not be what a GI may consider to be prudent, it is a great deal more than any organization with 10 million members has urged, Y2K not withstanding. Hope this helps. Wonder Woman:

Gary North had listed an article mentioning that many Mormon Church members were somewhat slack in making long term provisions, a change from the past when the majority prepared.

Apparently the Great American Prosperity (TM) has lulled many of them into typical JIT American consumer shopping habits.

As far back as I can remember, Marie is a little bit country, and Donnie is a little bit rock & roll. At least that's what they claimed.

Anyway, Donnie and Marie Osmond are brother and sister. They are famous for singing together, They had thier own singing show about the same time as Sony and Sher (do you know them?)

Now they have a talk show like Regis and Kathy Lee.

To all who worte about what I said abut "Who's Donnie and Marie" I am not young, this time I'm 49. I said what I did so that whoever it is that is talked about,you have to think just who are these people are.... They certainly aren't experts as mentioned in another post.
