unexpected gifts

Are you good at receiving gifts? Are you always quick with a thank you note or do you end up stammering around saying, "Oh... you shouldn't have... I mean, I'm glad you did... but... oh."

What was the most unexpected gift you ever received?

i'm bad at recieving gifts... bad bad bad bad bad.
i always have these incredible ideas about what i'm like "i've got stationary and a cool pen, therefore i can whip off a thank you note, recieve the gift gracefully and thus inspire people to give me more! more! just to recieve another note!"
but i haven't written a single thank you note for my grad gifts, i can't think of what to say. and when i get the gift, i can't think of what to say.
i find myself standing there, holding something wonderful, with a stupid expression on my face thinking "of course they know that when i look completely dumbfounded it's because i'm grateful. words are superfluous, they know i care"
it's not always that bad, but sometimes.
blah!

Chuy, I thought that WAS your picture from the LCP page.

D'oh! Sorry, lame joke comin' through.. (but it was in my lower register, so it was funnier than it wcould have been).

I don't know if Pamie used Photoshop or what, but they were hilarious...

It was me, me, me!! I am the unnamed candy giver! And Pamie, you don't have to give me anything. But if you happen to record your one-woman show (either audio or video), I'd love to have a copy. Since I won't get to see the real thing -- unless you take it on tour!!

I've taken to giving action figures to people lately. These are grown-ups and everything. My dad got a Spawn monster toy, and it kind of frightened him.

When a guy at work really helped out my project, I gave him a Dr. Evil figure from "The Spy Who Shagged Me." My wife got one for her birthday too, in addition to regular girl-presents. The Dr. Evil has a button you press, and he demands: "WHY MUST I BE SURROUNDED BY FRICKIN' IDIOTS?" The perfect touch for the home or office.

This has nothing to do with gifts, I just wanted to say how glad I am that my mom's mac, the only computer with internet access in the family since I am no longer at school and can't get it for free FINALLY let me open the Squishy site. Hurrah!!! I am very excited about this...

Somebody gave me a box of mint-scented cotton balls. I had to rearrange my face into a painful caricature of ecstatic appreciation.
