Best 35mm print film for scanning?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am using a Canon Elan II, HP S-20 scanner and an Epson Photo 750 printer. I have tried Kodak Royal Gold 100 film and have had good results in natural light, not so good using flash. Any suggestions on the best film to use for digital darkroom? Thanx

fuji nph 400, maybe rated at 250. (low contrast film) You can touch up colors as you like in a digital darkroom, but shadowed/washed out areas are probably lost.

My preference is Agfa portrait 160. High resolution, low contrast and better output to this scanner than fuju nph. I had trouble getting a good colour balance with fuji film and HP's previous photosmart scanner. The Agfa portrait film is extremely fine grained and the resolution is up there with Velvia
