Looking for DigiCams w/o viewfinder

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

My first DigiCam was the Mavica FD7. I loved the Floppy and that viewing was thru the LCD. I still love it, but I need higher res. And it cannot be a Mavica. What cameras out there do NOT have the optical viewfinder? I can name 2. The Olympus D600L & D620L. What about exclusively LCD like the the Mavica line.? Any help that can be provided would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, you probably meant to say that the D600/620 don't have an LCD viewfinder: They both provide TTL (through the lens) optical viewing. There may be others, but offhand, the only current digicams I can think of without an optical finder is the Agfa ePhoto 1680 (a pretty nice unit that's been out long enough for its price to get very reasonable), and the Casio QV-7000. If you're asking which ones don't have an LCD screen, the list is fairly short these days, and ones that don't are mostly restricted to the very low or high ends of the spectrum. Some of the other Olympus cameras don't permit the LCD to be used as a viewfinder. You can get a comparative feature list of the digicams on this site (BADLY in need of updating though), at http://www.imagigng-resource.com/FEAT1.HTM. Hope this helps,
