"Industrial Accidents" might be a better way to go. Thereby allowing inclusion of incidents that are suspect, but don't necessarily include fireworks, or death. Van Nuys, Peach Bottom, water contamination could then all be included.

Most of us don't have 20 years for a Y2K determination of each event, which is what it has taken for full disclosure on TMI.

I would very much like this to be a topic to follow; I've been wondering if there isn't a terrorism problem going on with the fires in refineries all over the world. Here in California, three big ones this spring put cheap regular gas up to 159.9 if you could find it. One of the refineries has been fixed, but prices still high. Yesterday, that report of the small fire in yet another CA plant, plus the houson Phillip Petrolem chemical plant, plus remember the big Korean one, and one in Africa? Plus, all those refineries in Serbia.

I am not familiar with the accident rate of oil refineries, but it has been too high, would like further info from knowledgeable people. Thanks!

I agree. I am wondering if we just notice these IA, because we are looking for signs of failure. I have read previous postings here stating, "hey, they happen all the time, and this doesn't mean anything" (not a quote).

I have been an avid reader of newspapers/magazine's for the last 25 yrs. It really does seem to be more than the norm. I admit I do not know what the normal rate of accidents are. I think IA history would be relevant also.

Now who do I thank now that Ed is gone?

Fire Reported at Ford Rouge Complex

DEARBORN, Mich., July 19 (UPI) - Reports say one person has been hurt (Monday) in an explosion and fire at the Ford Motor Co. Rouge factory complex in Dearborn, where an explosion in February killed six workers and injured 14.

The 10,000-worker complex includes a steel mill, auto- parts plants and assembly lines.
