Excellent read and lots of useful information, including summaries from electric, natural gas, telecomm, transportation, and water/sewer.

"All major utilities in North Carolina regulated by the Utilities Commission should be Y2K ready for the provision of utility service by September 30, 1999. A number of major gas, electric and telecommunications companies are already Y2K ready. There are some components within a few companies that need attention, but those are manageable and well known and will be addressed in the third quarter. The third and fourth quarter will be used for further testing and fine tuning of each Company's contingency plans. Because the major North Carolina utilities are advanced in their Y2K efforts, the Public Staff intends to appear at public events through the end of 1999 to try to help educate the public about the good Y2K condition our utilities have obtained through excellent planning, personnel and management attention and spending a lot of money, which they are generally not planning on recovering through higher utility rates."
