Peter

Ok, a friend (who is protestant) and I were having a discussion, and he said that Peter wasn't the first Pope, and that there weren't any popes for a long time... Peter when he was told he would be the rock, was 20 years after Jesus's death. Is he telling the truth??

Melissa,

I belive Christ Himself said Peter Upon this rock etc: Peter is one of my favourites for he wasn't too smart by comparision to Paul who was fiery in nature. Peter was either solid as a rock or thick as a brick. Christ liked him. - Peace Jean B.

<< Peter when he was told he would be the rock, was 20 years after Jesus's death. >>

Could you clarify this point? How could Jesus tell St. Peter that he would be the rock 20 years after He died? Or does your friend not believe that Jesus spoke those words to St. Peter? We would need to clarify that before we can go farther.
