Which scanner -- Canon FS2710 or Minolta Dimage Scan Speed?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm looking for a slide scanner and I've narrowed my choice down to the new Canon FS2710 and Minolta's Dimage Scan Speed. The specs on the Minolta look better (higher resolution, 3.6 vs 3.0 Dmax). The slightly higher resolution doesn't make much difference to me, but I'm not sure what difference the 3.6 Dmax will make.

I'd appreciate any comments on either scanners to help me make a decision. The review on Imaging Resource for the Minolta is very informative, but I can't find much info on the new Canon.

Thanks, Rob

The dynamic range is not 3.0, it is 3.2. The Canon UK site describes the scanner at: http://www.canon.co.uk/cgi-bin/parser.pl?page=products& index=1&product=177 There is a review of the scanner by George Lepp in this month's PCPhoto (or maybe it is PhotoPC) magazine. I hope that this helps. If you get one let me know how you like it.
