Are the lights on in Yugoslavia?

NATO used high-tech anti power grid bombs to try to turn off the lights in Yugoslavia. Additionally, NATO used high explosive bombs to physically damage the power grid.

Are the lights on in Yugoslavia?

What I meant was:

Can we judge how fast our power grid will be repaired by looking at how fast Yugo's grid got repaired?

NATO screwed with the power companies suppliers. They also shorted out busbars or whatever with graphite bombs. They also blew stuff up.

Will Y2k be worse than an air attack from NATO?

I don't know anything about Slobo's grid and I don't think we can extrapolate anything useful from analyzing it.

Maybe we can extrapolate something. Even after repeated "back to the stoneage" bombings targeted specifically at the Belgrade area electricity infrastructure, the lights are still on. Yes, the power was out for awhile, but one week after the cessation of NATO sorties, it's pretty much back to life as it was before.

That being said, my guess is that reliablity of power in Belgrade has never been close the reliability levels that we enjoy in the westernized world. Also, my guess is that there were many areas of Yugoslavia that were unscathed, from an electric power standpoint - so maybe they're doing some power importing and workarounds.

As tightly interconnected as the European continent is, if a government can run the distribution systems (most power systems on the continent are nationalized), they can bring power in from somewhere else (hey, does this sound familiar?).

Extrapolations for Y2k? The power was out for awhile. It came back on. No rioting and looting hoards on the streets of Belgrade, at least as far as I'm away. No muties were sighted. But consider, life in general is quite a bit harder in that area of the world on a daily basis. We're pretty soft by comparison.
