To buy HP PhotoSmart C20 ... or ... Canon PowerShot A5??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I've been offered an excellent deal on either the HP PhotoSmart C20 or the Canon PowerShot A5.

As the camera I decide on will be in place of my old 35mm auto-focus camera which I lost, it needs to be good for all round shots including indoor/flash pictures and close-ups. Can anyone tell me which one they would recommend over the other?

Also, can anyone recommend some good-quality colour printers (PC, Mac, or both) to replace our old one so that we can print prints that will be as good as prints from a professional 35mm photo D&P unit.

Thanks.

I think the Canon is probably the better camera, but just picked up a C20 at a reasonable price and am very pleased with it. To see a few of my first pictures, go to:

These were shot hand-held in a light breeze, so don't be too critical of the focus. I must get myself a tripod!

Good luck, whatever you buy!

PS: The Photogenetics software is terrific! Thanks for the suggestion, Dave!
